I am really happy with this stone. It has a great feel to it when sharpening--soft and forgiving on the blade, yet it is very hard and doesn't easily go out of flat. It cuts quickly and saves time on the finish stone. These stones are much thicker than many other stones I've used. I can imagine they'll last decades of constant use. I'd recommend the 1000, 2000 and 4000 as a complete sharpening set, along with a coarser one for nicked blades.

Suzuki-ya's toishi simply cut very fast. They must be made by better qulity raw materials. From what I felt it is about as hard as the Bester stones but this stone from Suzuki-ya cuts faster and much cleaner. Even on my very hard togou kou kanna ba with the bit of alloy. I am quite suprised by this synthetic stone, I believe craftmenship from the heart makes the difference!
