This plane is called Dainaoshi-ganna in the Eastern part of Japan and Tachi-ganna in the Western part of Japan.

Scraper planes are for adjusting the bottom of a smoothing plane.  It has a single blade inserted at a slightly off 90 degree angle to the base, which is relatively shorter than a normal smoothing plane / Hira-ganna. It is a crucial tool for adjusting the bottom surface of a smoothing plane / Hira-ganna, which determines the quality of the shaving. It is also used to shave hardwoods.

Various sizes are available. Contact us for details.
