About the author:
Dale Brotherton is the owner and operator of Takumi Company, a Design/Build firm based in Seattle, Washington. Involved in woodworking since 1978, he apprenticed with a renowned Japanese tea house carptener for six and a half years in the San Francisco Bay Area and was a journeyman for two years in traditional residential construction in Nagano-ken, Japan. He returned to the United States in 1987 to found Takumi Company, and since then he has completed over 100 projects for private customers, institutions, and municipalities.
