• The pruning craftsmen I worked alongside in Kyoto (that I wrote about in my Japanese garden memoir) used shears like these. The shears sold by Suzuki-ya are so sharp they cut paper, I love demonstrating this when I give talks around the US-ones I use in gardens as well. As a professional landscape pruner, I love these pruning shears because the metal is so high quality, that sharpening has to be done much less frequently, great for people working in individual gardens. They do need to be dried after each use, one downside when compared to the pruning shears sold in most nurseries of the US. These are pure quality. There is something so satisfying about holding shears made with such quality steel craftsmanship from Japan-very inspiring. Of all the shears Suzuki-ya sells, this particular shear is the one I most recommend for general pruning in the garden for both professional pruners and home-gardeners.

• I purchased a pair of these pruning shears weeks ago and have not stopped using them! I was going to buy yet another pair of standard gardening shears when I decided to make the investment in a professional grade tool. I am glad that I did. They are very high quality, sharp and comfortable to use. The way the handles are made makes them easy for any size hand to use. I also think that they would be an excellent gift for anyone who loves gardening.
